Upgrade bundle includes all the parts and tools needed to mod your iMac. My iMac is running slow and I am hoping to get a few more years out of it. I figure I have two options: add memory; replace my current hard drive with one that is solid state. So I am tackling the memory option first. My iMac has four memory slots with two in use. The two in use each have an 8GB module. What can I add in the empty slots?
About This iMac
The Apple iMac Intel Aluminum released September 2013 was another step in creativity in the world of computers. A number of more conventional features of a computer were absent – such a DVD drive slots and the FireWire ports that were traditional with the Apple iMac brand and new features appeared – such as the Thunderbolt port which allows for the passage of both visual and audio signal. The basic components of a computer such as the RAM were upgraded as this model had an 8 GB of 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM which could be upgraded on purchase to a 16 GB RAM but not recommended for an upgrade after even though it is a possibility. The USB ports were 3.0 ports. It also had a powerful graphics processor included with its GeForce GT 750M graphics processor with 1 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory with a built-in FaceTime HD camera. This computer still stands tall among competitors and will continue to stand tall for a long while regardless of the amount of development that happens in the computer world.
Storage
I have a late 2013 iMac with 16gb ram and upgraded 2.9 i5 processor that had a fusion drive. I added a new 2tb ssd last month. I also added a 500gb nvme ssd (or whatever the MacBook Pro equivalent drive is called) that I had spare from my late 2013 MacBook Pro as my iMac version has a slot for the nvme type ssd drive on the logic board. If upfront price is the primary concern, the iMac 'Core i5' 1.4 21.5-Inch is cheapest, albeit it is a lot slower than the 'Late 2013' models and has soldered RAM (which will limit its lifespan). Otherwise, the basic iMac 'Core i5' 2.7 21.5-Inch is the cheapest option remaining among these models. Memory isn't removable by users on 21.5 inch iMacs from late 2012, late 2013, mid 2014 and 2017. Nor is it possible to manually remove the RAM on a 21.5 Retina display from 2017, either. In these cases, sadly you will need to pay higher prices to get the upgrade you want.
The device was built with 1 TB Serial ATA (6Gb/s) hard drive storage with a disk speed of 5400 RPM.
